My favorite topic as a tech enthusiast and technology blogger is the advancement of technology, looking at new innovations tech companies have featured in their products.

Making a list of smartphones I consider as the best in specific months, is one of the avenues I use to discuss technological advancements in our society.

This time, I will be making a list of smartphones I consider to be the best October had to offer.
As seen every year, October is a month facilitated by the release of many gadgets, month of October brings about lot of innovations that becomes a trend later on.

This article contains a comprehensive list of best Smartphones from January to October, smartphones on this list are currently available for purchase.

In this ERA were the similarities between phones has become so great, these Smartphones stand out. They all have standout features that sets them apart from their pairs, plus they bear more than enough power for technological dealings in 2018.

I am going to be discussing the features of each of these top smartphones in this article.

1. Samsung Galaxy Note 9

Smartphones from Samsung’s Note series are known to be power houses, featuring the most high end features you will find on any samsung devices.
Smartphones from Samsung’s Note series have over the years become a yardstick to telling how powerful other flasghips are.

The Galaxy Note 9, is no exception, the Galaxy note 9 features high end hardware specifications, awesome design/build and good software.

The Galaxy Note 9 is a 6.4 inch smartphone, built with glass in front and back. Both glasses are attached to a metal frame in the middle.

In front you have a 6.4 inch Quad HD display with a screen resolution of 1440 x 2190. Just like the recent Samung smartphones, the 6.4 inch display on the Galaxy note 9, is long instead of being wide.

As mentioned earlier, you also have glass on the back of the Galaxy note 9. On the back of the Galaxy note 9, you will find two rear cameras, flash and finger print sensor.

The Galaxy note 9 features a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB type-c port and the S-PEN on the bottom frame.
The S-PEN as you might already know, plays a big role in the uniqueness of Samsung smartphones from the note series.

Samsung continues to make noticable improvements on the S-PEN every year. This year Samsung didn’t relent.

The New S-PEN has a lot a new features, but the main feature Samsung is markteing is it’s Bluetooth feature. The new S-PEN features Bluetooth for connectivity.

The S-PEN on the Galaxy note 9 features Bluetooth low energy module that allows , it allows it to be used as a remote to control the Samsung Galaxy note 9.

When I say remote, I mean allow you trigger commands when you 30 feet away from the Samsung Galaxy note 9.
With the new S-PEN you can trigger the camera shutter, switch between cameras and lot more.. the button on the S-PEN can be remapped for various functions.

Since it the S-PEN uses Bluetooth, it’s gonna need some battery which means the S-PEN is going to need some charging.
Samsung has included a super capacitor that allows the battery of the S-PEN to charge full in just a minute.
Charging begins immediately you place the S-PEN inside the note 9.

The Samsung Galaxy note 9 features dual 12mp cameras on the rear, with the main one featuring a dual aperture mode.
Up front on the Samsung Galaxy note 9 you have an 8MP shooter.

The Samsung Galaxy note 9 features a 4000MAH battery.

The Samsung Galaxy note 9 is powered by Qualcomm’s snapdragon 845 processor, 8 gigs of RAM, 512GB of internal storage with up to 512GB of micro SD exam expansion.
The Samsung Galaxy note is kept alive by a 4000MAH battery.

The Samsung Galaxy note 9 cost $1,250 and $1,000 for the standard 6GB/128GB variant.

2. Huawei Mate 20 Pro

Though the Mate 20 Pro is occupying second position on this list, it’s actually my favourite smartphone.

Though the mate 20 pro was released late October, Huawei managed to make the Mate 20 pro stand out in a pool filled with powerful flasghips.

The mate 20 pro follows the current smartphone trend and Improves on them.

Bonded by a metal frame, the Mate 20 pro features glass in front and on the back, which facilities wireless and reverse wireless charging. More on that later.

In front the Mate 20 Pro features a 6.39 inch OLED display with a Screen resolution of 3120 x 1440.

Keeping up with the trend and trying to achieve a full display in front, the mate 20 pro features a notch in it’s display.
Inside the notch, you will find a Dot projector, flood illuminator and an Infrared Ray camera.
These set of hardware powers Face ID security on the Mate 20 Pro.

Still speaking on the display, The Mate 20 Pro ditches rear fingerprint sensors and features in display fingerprint sensor instead. Huawei first featured the indisplay fingerprint sensor on their Mate RS Porsche, but they were not completely decided , as the Mate RS Porsche also had a rear mounted fingerprint sensor.

The Mate 20 Pro is powered by Hi-silicon kirin 980 processor, 6 gigs of RAM, 128 gigs of storage, 4200 MAH.

Moving on to cameras, the mate 20 pro runs a triple camera system on the rear.

  • 40MP main camera with an aperture of F/1.8
  • 20MP ultra wide camera with an aperture of F/2.2
  • 8MP Telephoto camera with an aperture of F/1.4 with 5x optical zoom

3. Google Pixel 3XL

Since the release of the first Google pixel Smartphone in 2016, Google pixel phones have joined the list of most anticipated phones every year.

It’s awesome software, coupled with well manufactured hardware has made name for smartphones in the pixel line up.
The most standard feature they have is their camera, Google has been able to feature higher camera capabilities in their phones, without bothering too much about hardware, thanks to their awesome camera software.

The Pixel 3XL is no exception, it features improved features made by Google in 2018.

The Pixel 3XL has a design very similar to last years Pixel 2 XL, but features 2018 hardware specs and improved software.

this year, Google has introduced an all glass designed on the rear , with the second part of the tone having some sort of texture.
The pixel 3XL looks alot like the pixel 2XL from afar, but when you hold it in your hands, you discover a new feeling, it’s actually glass with some texture.

The Google Pixel 3 XL has a 6.3 inch flexible OLED display, with a screen resolution of 2960 X 1440.

The Google pixel 3 XL has the biggest Notch ever featured on any Smartphone

The flexible OLED display featured here, is to make the display stretch to the edges of the Pixel 3 XL. Still on the bid to having a full display, the Google pixel 3 XL features a notch, the biggest ever featured on any smartphone. This immense Notch size has some reasons behind it.

The Notch on the Pixel 3 XL contains two cameras and a big front facing speaker that is part of a stereo pair. The second speaker that pairs with speaker inside the notch is found below the display on it’s chin.

The Pixel 3XL is powered by Snapdragon 845 processor, 4GB of ram, 64 GB storage and 3,430MAH battery.

Pixel 3 XL have the same camera hardware, just like the Google pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL did.
The Pixel 3 XL features a single rear camera with a 12MP sensor and an aperture of F/1.8.
Up front, the Pixel 3 XL feature dual cameras, with the standard camera having a standard 75 degrees field of view and the Other having a 97 degree field of view.

The dual front facing cameras on the Pixel 3 XL shows a wider variation in their field of view, when compared to the once featured on the just released LG V40.

4. iPhone Xs

Despite the minor spec bump controversies surrounding the iPhone Xs ( Pronounced iPhone 10 s), the iPhone Xs is actually a solid device. It’s actually widely known that it takes 2 years to manufacture an entirely different phone after a major flagship has been released.

The iPhone Xs retains a very similar design from last year with a higher body and a new colour. One of the colours of the iPhone Xs is a colour that appears to be brownish Gold.

The iPhone Xs features a 5.8 inch super retina OLED display with a screen resolution of 2,688 x 1,242 pixels. This display is one of the best display on a smartphone, I don’t really want to exaggerate here but I thinks it’s the best.

The iPhone Xs is powered by Apple’s A12 bionic chip, 4GB, Up to 512GB of internal storage and 2,658 MAH battery.
The battery appears little by with Apple’s iOS 12, you should get good battery optimization for long lasting on time.

The iPhone Xs features a 12-megapixel wide-angle sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, optical image stabilization, and a 1.4nm pixel size. The second telephoto lens also has 12 megapixels with OIS, a 2x optical zoom, and an f/2.4 aperture. The front camera has a new 7-megapixel RGB sensor with an f/2.2 aperture, plus an IR camera and a structured light transmitter for Face ID and animojis. For video, the front camera shoots 1080p at 60fps with video stabilization.

5. Huawei P20 Pro

The P20 pro appears to be the most beautiful smartphone from Huawei, being the most beautiful smartphone to you depends on if you willingly to purchase the twilight edition of the Huawei P20 pro . Which is a mixture of blue and purple colour.

The P20 features a Hi-slicon kirin 970 processor, 6GB of ram, 128GB of storage and 4000mah battery.

Moving on to the camera department which is the most hyped feature of huawei P20.

The huawei P20 pro features a triple camera setup, featurina 40MP RGB sensor; and a telephoto lens that has an 8MP sensor.

Apart from these two cameras , the Huawei P20 pro also features a 20MP monochrome sensor.

Huawei features a very big aperture on the main 40MP RGB camera of the P20 pro to accommodate more light for better low light shots.

The P20 pro simply put is the smartphone photographer’s dream.
